ANCIENT EGYPT: WRITING IN HIEROGLYPHS

The Ancient Egyptians developed a writing system around 3000 B.C. They used pictures of objects, people and animals to write down their language: Egyptian Hieroglyphs (sacred carving). 

Each symbol had a meaning and Egyptians loved writing endless lists about everything. 

However, many years later, when archaeologists discovered hieroglyphic writing on the walls of tombs, they couldn't read it so they decide to guess them until someone found the Rosetta Stone, translated by Jean-François Champollion. Now, they could read hieroglyphics!
