Resultado de imagen de red seaPhileas Fogg was sailing the Red Sea on the Mongolian steamboat. Despite the strong winds and bad weather, he was calm and relaxed. He was thinking of his to-do list...

The Red Sea is between Africa and Asia and it's the warmest sea in the world (30ºC)! It has a big concentration of salt so 10% of the species are unique in the world!

Did you know why we call it "The Red Sea"? The red mountains and cliffs are reflected on the sea during the sunset.

ANCIENT EGYPT: WRITING IN HIEROGLYPHS

ANCIENT EGYPT: WRITING IN HIEROGLYPHS

Resultado de imagen de jeroglificos egipto
The Ancient Egyptians developed a writing system around 3000 B.C. They used pictures of objects, people and animals to write down their language: Egyptian Hieroglyphs (sacred carving).

Each symbol had a meaning and Egyptians loved writing endless lists about everything.

However, many years later, when archaeologists discovered hieroglyphic writing on the walls of tombs, they couldn't read it so they decide to guess them until someone found the Rosetta Stone, translated by Jean-François Champollion. Now, they could read hieroglyphics!

Then, write your name in hieroglyphic writing on the papyrus by using these symbols:

ALL ABOUT THE SUEZ CANAL

Resultado de imagen de suez canal drawingA long time a man called Vasco de Gama sailed all the way around Africa to reach places like India but, what if there was a shortcut?

This dream came true back in the 19th century, also for Phileas Fogg:

Watch this video and find out this information about the Suez Canal. Then write/colour it on your infographic:

  1. Who was the engineer who started its construction?
  2. How long is it in miles? What about in km? (1 mile = 1,604 km)
  3. Who controls it today?
  4. How long does it take to sail through?
  5. Name a similar canal in America.

What am I?

Learning grammar? Better if we play!

We're learning about animals and animal body parts and also the grammatical structures: 'It has got...' 'It hasn't got...' Has it got...?'

How can we practise all these things in a meaningful and funny way? Playing!

First, we watched a video about the classification of the vertebrate animals:

After that, we made some posters with the structures to learn and practise trough an example. These are the questions we used to play the game:

And these are the materials:

It is a guessing game to guess tha animal that each child has in their head asking queations and using the grammar structures in a meaningful and funny way. We learnt a lot and had a great time!
